What is a social enterprise?
Social enterprises are businesses that prioritise achieving social, societal, or environmental impact as their main objective. Similar to conventional businesses, social enterprises engage in the trade of goods or services on a regular basis. However, the surplus they generate from their operations is reinvested to further their social impact goals. In the case of the Cornmarket Project, our two social enterprises demonstrate this social impact by providing valuable training and work experience opportunities to individuals who often face challenges in finding employment due to their past histories. Our social enterprises aim to help these individuals overcome obstacles and gain a foothold on the employment ladder.
EPIC Social Enterprise
Our EPIC social enterprise gives employment to those who have found it difficult to access the labour market as a result of prior criminal convictions, or who are in recovery from addiction. We support people to make sustainable changes in their lives, to move away from criminality and substance misuse, and get back on their feet. Our workshops provide training and real work experience in the design and manufacture of printed promotional materials. All profits generated by our EPIC social enterprise are reinvested in the business with the objective of helping people to rebuild their lives. You will find more information at www.epicsales.ie
Kafe Konnect Social Enterprise
Our cafe gives employment to those who have found it difficult to access the labour market as a result of prior criminal convictions, or who are in recovery from addiction. We support people to make sustainable changes in their lives, to move away from criminality and substance misuse, and get back on their feet. Our Kafe Konnect provides training and real work experience in a range of hospitality related roles including chefs, cooks, pastry chefs, baristas, wait staff, cashiers, kitchen support staff and café management. We have had great success in progressing our trainees into employment in the areas of hospitality, tourism and catering. As a social enterprise, all profits generated by Kafe Konnect are reinvested in the business with the objective of helping people to rebuild their lives.
